I love popcorn. And although I love popcorn with butter, what I’m actually talking about right now is a task management technique called “popcorning.”

It’s a simple and easy way to get stuff done.

Action
– Set a timer to go off in 10 minutes. Then choose 6 different tasks you can do quickly and without much thought, such as

  1. filing
  2. organizing your email inbox
  3. clearing your desktop
  4. inputting business cards into a database
  5. sorting your outstanding work into priority piles
  6. tidying up your pen drawer

Hit the start button on your timer and get going with task number 1. When you hear the alarm sound in 10 minutes, stop what you’re doing and move on to the second task.

And at the end of an hour, you’ll have gotten most, if not all, of each of these tasks done.

Popcorning gets you moving quickly and creates many results within the hour.
