The world we live in provides us with the natural rhythms of the seasons. Some of us experience great change between seasons while others experience less change.

Just like the seasons, you too have natural rhythms. There are times when we feel strong and positive, able to pursue goals and take risks. At other times, we may be more quiet and sensitive, wanting to relax and just ‘be’ for a while.

Are you aware of the signals you receive when it’s time to recharge your batteries? Can you sense an upcoming surge of energy? Do you recognize your physical, mental and emotional fluctuations?

Action – Take note of your cycles of energy throughout the day, week or month. See what patterns emerge for you.

When you work with your rhythms instead of against them, you’ll find yourself feeling more at ease and effective every day.

(I own this t-shirt and its one of my favorites, having lived in Ireland for a while!)

    1. I still have my t-shirt. Slightly faded but one of my favorites! Feel free to send me a pic of yours!

  1. Having awareness around your own energy is so helpful – it brings understanding and understanding can help you release resistance and move forward.

  2. Respecting our own rhythms = powerful thought. Makes a lot of sense to me.
Do you think we could apply this to other aspects of our lives? (Other than our carreer)

    1. Great question, Mercedes. We have natural rhythms in all areas of life, and on both the micro and macro levels. Sometimes when we are feeling overwhelm (for example), it could be because these different rhythms of life are not only out of whack within themselves, but between each other. Most definitely, physical and emotional fluctuations between, say, one’s work life and being married, cause angst. I tend to encourage my clients to stay focused on macro level stuff, and deepened self-awareness of overarching emotions, thoughts, desires, etc.

  3. Nancy, I have never thought of it in this way, and I have always had cycles of mental acuity that are the best time of all to complete very detailed work and other times when I just want the mindless activities I can complete without out much thought. I will work to harness this more now that I am “looking for it”.
