“It’s never crowded along the extra mile.”
That anonymous quote is a simple encapsulation of a long standing but rarely followed piece of business advice.
How many times have you complained in the last 30 days of a company’s poor service, a sales agent’s terse tone or a store cashier’s grim face?
And in that same time frame, how many times have you noticed a happy tone on the other end of the phone, a sincere smile at the checkout or someone genuinely interested in your customer complaint?
A quick guideline here – anything and everything you complain about regarding others needs to be mastered in your own behavior. With clients and colleagues, make sure your actions are nothing to complain about.
Action – So when you notice that you’re complaining about someone else’s behavior, make a quick check to see if you’re doing the same thing. And change it.
