Although I sometimes resist the idea that I could be wrong about something, I’m much better at backing off than I used to be. (Just ask my husband!)
I’m also more likely to risk doing something and be wrong about it than to stay stuck in a certain situation and do nothing.
You see, the word “wrong” was something I heard a lot when I was growing up. And later, I did everything I could to avoid that word. But then I heard this saying – A man should never be ashamed to own that he has been in the wrong, which is but saying in other words, that he is wiser today than he was yesterday.
Jonathan Swift’s words reframed the entire notion of being wrong from a bad thing to a way to learn new things and succeed in the world.
Action – Whether by using a quote from someone else or your own inner guidance, change your language and let go of the word or phrase that currently holds you back.
You wrong??? Even when you are wrong you are right 🙂
This resonates for me especially the avoidance of being wrong because of associations I too had with the word. It’s a word I try to avoid even still. But again, perhaps because I’m older and I’ve lightened up somewhat, the idea that I might be wrong is alright now. It’s good to be wrong at times – gets me off the high horse I sometimes find myself on.
Tally ho!
So far, the only time I like to be wrong is when I’m afraid something will go wrong and it doesn’t. 🙂
I do like this perspective of tying “wrongs” to evolving – I can now think of lots more places I’d like to be wrong!
Great food for thought!
