I was recently reading about Lisa Gansky, an entrepreneur in California. She has a quick little formula for success that I want to share with you. And yes, it is similar to my own too (Great minds thinking alike, and all that!)
“Know yourself, surround yourself with really good people and listen to what they say.”
Let’s look at each part of this.
Know yourself by connecting to your values, standards and what motivates you. Know your authentic definition of success and determine where you are right now in relation to it.
Like a Goal Getter Gang, surrounding yourself with really good people gives you resources, support, information and opportunities not available when on your own. The sum is greater than the parts.
I always listen to those good people who surround me. I don’t always do exactly as they suggest and they know that. What is important is in knowing the value, depth and breadth of what I learn from them. And by knowing myself, I can easily and respectfully discern what advice to act on.
Suck up your pride and ditch the unhelpful notion that you must do it alone for it to be worthwhile and ask for input from others.
Action – Using a scale from 1 to 10 with 1 being ‘not at all’ and 10 being ‘absolutely’, mark your score on each piece of the formula.
- Know yourself
- Surround yourself with really good people
- Listen to what they say
Just nailing this formula will create more success in your life.
