For years, psychologists have known that taking short pauses throughout the day is a powerful way to recharge. I call these mental health moments.

Few of us use this simple yet effective tool as a way to refresh.

We waste time looking for technology or techniques to help us refocus. Instead, all we need to do is …. Nothing.

Pausing in your physical and mental activities for as little as one minute every hour is all it takes.

You see, that mental health moment will drop your heart rate, redirect blood flow in the brain, relax muscles and calm hectic internal chatter.

Action – Set your watch or computer alarm for 60 minutes and when it beeps at you, pause all your activities – except driving – and take in 10 deep breaths.

Stop thinking or doing or acting for just one minute every hour and you will be amazed by the results.

(Try this out right now for the next couple of hours. Then please come back and share your experience using the comments box.)
