The autobiographies of successful people all have a common theme.
Lifelong learning.
No doubt you take courses and read books related to improving your career but I’m not talking about those.
What about all the other opportunities to learn new things? Hobbies, sports, recreational activities. Spiritual awareness, health issues, world events, international cultures.
When was the last time you picked up a book or magazine in a field totally unrelated to your career? You could watch documentaries or even travel to support your learning. It’s deliciously simple these days to download audio files or sign up to various blogs or newsletters to gather information. Or how about asking one of your friends to teach you a skill they have that you admire?
Action – Make a plan to actively learn something new each month. Read unusual or different magazines. Talk to peers, colleagues and friends about one of their hobbies. Research an appealing non-work related subject on the internet.
Expanding your education gives you a wide, varied and intriguing pool of knowledge that fills all aspects of your life.
