The way you define the word ‘success’ will determine how you go about achieving it. In the early days of my business, my definition centred around the quality and quantity of clients I had, the amount of money in the bank and where I lived.
And you know what? It was often an overwhelming struggle to even get close to feeling successful!
Then one day a few years ago, I realized I was feeling particularly successful. In fact, I was more motivated, happy and confident than I had felt in a long long time.
“What the heck is going on” I asked myself. So I set about consciously looking for the patterns and choices I had made that led me to this joyful, calm place.
And as I looked at my daytimer, it hit me. Everything in it – my personal and professional appointments and plans – were all things I wanted to be doing. There was nothing in there I had to do.
I had been clearing away unwanted activities for a while, just so I could become more focused. I didn’t realize that it would actually lead me to feel more successful!
By eliminating certain tasks that didn’t align with my goals and changing my perception and attitude toward those that remained, everything became stuff I wanted to do!
And not surprisingly, as I continued to focus on doing only those things I wanted to do, the clients, money and wonderful home all came anyway! As did so much more abundance I don’t have time to list now.
Action – Focus all your attention on only those things you WANT to do. Wherever possible, delete or delegate the stuff you HAVE TO do. For whatever is left, shift your attitude so that you can enjoy the task even if its not your most favorite pastime.
When the heavy have-tos are gone, you will be and feel lighter, brighter and more successful than you thought possible. Believe me!
