At work, do you like to be accepted simply for who you are?
I know I do!
I spent many years working my way up the corporate ladder. And whether I was a clerk or manager, I always liked to be acknowledged and recognized.
Years ago, just before I left for lunch with a group of colleagues, I asked our receptionist if she would like me to bring anything back for her, as she couldn’t leave her desk like we could.
She told me later that my one question had made her feel included and appreciated.
People often look at someone in a so-called “lower” position with disregard, as if that person didn’t matter.
Action – To recognize the importance of everyone in your team, take the opportunity to treat others with the care and attention you want!
And by the way, almost twenty years and many adventures later, that receptionist, Corina, and I are still good friends.
