Knowledge is power. While I agree with the generality of that statement, it is missing something.

Knowledge is knowledge. Power comes when we USE the knowledge we have, instead of just letting it sit around between our ears.

I see it day after day. Intelligent, aware and inspirational people sitting idly by, getting nowhere near where they want to be. What stops them is a variety of fears, illusions and misnomers all wrapped up into feelings of low confidence. They do not seem to get that Jack down the hall actually KNOWS nothing more than they do. And they certainly don’t understand that what actually makes Jack different is what he DOES.

Jack takes the actions that are necessary to achieve his goals.

In psychology, we call this willingness, motivation and drive someone’s conative style. Conation is how what we know and what we feel connects to what we do.

Action – Google the word conation to find out more about this fascinating and fundamental aspect of your personality.
