A problem well-defined is a problem half solved. While that may sound like common sense, few people follow it.
Most people identify something they THINK is a problem when in actual fact it’s a superficial glitch. We get stuck on it, going round and round in circles, trying to figure out an answer to a surface issue. But when problems are truly defined, they are much easier and faster to resolve.
There are two questions to use to unearth the ‘real’ issue, and both can be used at the same time.
They are “what does that really mean?” and “so what?”
Action – So when you begin to find a problem, start asking those questions. Keep digging until you cannot find an answer to either one. That will be the real problem.
And you’ll already be half-way there to solving it.
So what is your choice? Running in circles on the surface? Or really working on the problem?
