Gold mining has long been a part of history. Men, women and even children traveled thousands of miles in search of elusive nuggets that may bring them huge wealth. Some found it, most did not.
I remember the story of a man who had purchased a plot of land in search of gold. For years, he worked his claim, convinced there was a rich vein of the stuff somewhere. Each year, he would find just enough gold to feed his family but as time passed, his determination waned. So, he sold the land and moved away.
Within a few weeks, the new owner had found a huge cache of gold less than 100 feet from where the other guy had stopped digging!
Action – What have you become discouraged by? Did you walk away from something a little too soon? What have you given up on?
As Thomas Edison said “Many of life’s failures are people who didn’t realize how close they were to success when they gave up!”
