The words “I don’t know” are not allowed in my home. They are almost considered swear words.

You see, as kids, we learned to use the phrase “I don’t know” when we wanted to avoid telling the truth or when we were simply too lazy to find the answer.

And as adults, we tend to use the same phrase for the same reasons!

How many times have you used the phrase “I don’t know” when you actually DID know but were just trying to get out of something? If you know an answer, give it, truthfully and respectfully.

Action – And if you truly don’t know the answer, use one of these phrases instead:

“I don’t know right now but I’ll get back to you in 5 minutes” or

“I’m afraid I don’t know and I’m not in a position to find the answer at this moment.”

The phrase “I don’t know” is dismissive and lazy. Remove it from your vocabulary, starting today.
