A few weeks ago I went into hibernation.

When I was single, that was an easy thing to do. I just shut off the phone and locked the front door.

Now that I’m married, it was a real struggle to give myself permission to spend a couple of days on my own, away from hubby and the stepkids. But I knew it was needed.

In the weeks leading up to the wedding, I had overbooked myself and then caught the flu. Soon after the wedding, there were two big client presentations back to back. In a very short period of time, I had run all my tanks dry.

Despite attempts to refuel at home, I knew I actually needed quiet time alone to get back on track. And it worked.

I checked myself into a very nice hotel, took my fluffiest jammies and slippers, a few books, my writing journal and my credit card for room service! It was fabulous!

And if this story hits any nerve for you, maybe you are envious. Maybe you recognize your own need to hibernate or refuel in some other way.

Action – Which of your tanks is running dry? – physical, emotional, spiritual … all of them?

Give YOURSELF permission to stop the drainage and fill ‘em back up again. If you’ve got nothin’ to run on, how do you expect yourself to keep movin’?!
