Boy, its noisy in here! There are a lot of people hovering around me right now – chatting, laughing, complaining. I think I can even hear the beat of some music in the distance.

How am I supposed to concentrate?

Well, I – like you – have 3 choices. One, go somewhere quieter. Two, keep noticing it for a while. Or three, tune it out and remain focused.

Knowing myself well, I know my preference is to change locations but for several reasons, I’m actually going to stay put right now. I also don’t wish to use any more of my precious time noticing the noise but doing nothing. So, I will stay focused. I will concentrate and choose where my attention goes.

Is it that simple?

Yes, because I understand that is IS possible to focus, to remain concentrated on a point, thought or task regardless of what is going on externally. Ask any successful gymnast who can still execute a perfect maneuver without noticing the cheering spectators.

Action – Do you use up valuable time complaining about the hustle and bustle around you? If so, well, that’s your choice.

But those who create success choose to remove themselves from noise to quiet or they choose to use their energies to concentrate and focus.
