I start most of my presentations the same way. The first question I ask is “why are you here?” The most common replies are – ‘to be more effective’, ‘to produce bigger results’, ‘to make more money’.
Next, I’ll ask, ‘what stops you’ and for several minutes, I’ll hear all sorts of excuses.
Given the opportunity, people would wield excuses for hours. We tend to focus our time, energy and attention on our problems.
Well, that’s not really going to get you anywhere, and will definitely block all your positive efforts.
Success is created by focusing on solutions.
Action – Instead of searching for 5 new problems, find 10 new ways to overcome each challenge.
Brainstorm new ideas and possibilities every time you catch yourself complaining about someone or something that‘s bugging you.
Devote your resources to getting answers instead of hiding behind questions.
Put your obsessive behavior to good use by creating solutions, not problems.
