What’s the first thing many people do when they go on holiday?

Answer – They take off their watch!

When we’re away from the office for any extended period of time, we tend to stop clock-watching. We allow pangs of hunger to tell us when to eat. Or we let fatigue lead us to sleep.

Watching the clock adds stress and anxiety to our task-oriented lives. Constantly looking at your watch builds a sense of pressure and busyness, completely opposite to the calm and balance we are seeking.

Action – Allow yourself periods of time during the working week when you can remove your watch. Work until you feel hungry or need a break. Note the feeling of freedom you will experience. Then put the watch back on and proceed with the remainder of your regular work day.

Remember: Your watch is a tool, NOT your master!
