Stress isn’t necessarily a bad thing. At proper levels, stress gets you out of bed in the morning and helps you achieve the goals you set yourself.

We are mentally and physically designed to handle even high levels of stress, but only in short bursts.

We know that to build a muscle up you must exercise it to exhaustion. But then that muscle must be given time to recover and repair, without any exercise at all. During the downtime, the muscle builds back up again, stronger than before. However, if not given a break, the muscle actually becomes weaker and is prone to damage.

And the same is true for your mental state. Major crises do occur in life and, for the most part, we handle them well. Hopefully, events such as moving home, divorce, being fired or a death in the family are infrequent in one’s life, with lots of time to recover and build up in between.

It is the little stresses happening every day that create the most damage to our state of mind.

Action
– Whatever daily irritants get in your way, take action to remove them from your life. And for those that are left over, shift your attitude so they don’t bug you quite as much.

Physically and mentally, don’t sweat the small stuff!
