Ever noticed an instant change from a negative feeling to a positive? If you have, I would guess that what preceded the change was one simple action.
Laughter.
As Reader’s Digest has always proposed, laughter truly is the best medicine. Even if it is forced to begin with, the act of laughter will release a variety of chemicals such as serotonin and it even reduces the likelihood of heart disease. Wild, deep belly laughter can even activate all 400 muscles in the body!
A few minutes of laughter will make you feel lighter, calmer and much more positive in times of stress and anxiety. Your ability to think laterally and clearly is improved after a bout of fun-filled laughter.
Laughter therapy is becoming a hot commodity. There are laughter clinics popping up in cities everywhere. While popular, they are not actually necessary. You already know how to laugh. You even know the different things that make YOU laugh.
What are they? Sit-comes on TV, comedy clubs, funny movies or comedic theatre? Watching kids or puppies play? Harmless gags or TV outtakes? Your friends’ antics?
And when was the last time you laughed?
Action – You may be under pressure right now but there is no need to stop laughter because the in-tray is full. Make time to consciously be with the things and people that make you laugh.
If you’re too busy to laugh, you are too busy!
