A few weeks before Christmas, my husband found $150 cash inside a book we had bought at a second hand shop. Instantly, we knew we’d give it to a local charity.
Don’t get me wrong – that close to an expensive holiday, the money certainly could have come in handy. But, both my husband and I are working while many families have at least one unemployed parent. And if we overspend at Christmas, it’s our choice, while for others, there’s very little to go around. The money would have been even more handy for them.
So, with our kid’s agreement, the money went to an organization that would be able to get at least 30 new toys for local children in need.
Action – Giving to others from your own abundance, whether that’s money, compassion, knowledge, care, time, or something else, is an invaluable gift that goes on long after the actual giving.
Give something today.
