What are you feeling, right now, this second?
I’m not asking what you’re doing or thinking, I’m asking what you’re feeling!
Are you bored? Tired? Energized? Excited? Maybe you’re a little confused or afraid? Maybe you’re feeling light-hearted and lively. Or you’re fed-up, frustrated, joyful or calm.
During our day, we tend to whiz through the time focusing on what we’re doing. Or we spend a lot of time thinking, or thinking about thinking.
But, particularly at work, we spend very little time being aware of our feelings, yet our feelings contribute a lot to our actions.
Action – I’m not suggesting you sit around navel-gazing. But, by checking your emotions on a regular basis – say every hour or so – you’re more likely to make great choices and take more effective actions.
It’s not only about what we think and do but also what we feel that matters.
