My teenage stepdaughter has recently entered high school. This transition into a new life stage is for her, and us, a time of new opportunities and challenges, fun and fear.
She is facing new academic problems and tests on her time. She is distracted by handsome older boys and more social events.
The next few years are going to be loaded with homework, friends and many adventures.
I hope she remembers one thing…
Her journey will naturally be filled with good and bad and she can celebrate both. There will be heartache. There will be failure. There will be sadness. And all of this will run right alongside her fun, joys and achievements.
And as adults, we too often forget that our life experience will be a mixture of the positive and negative. We hold out for the good stuff while lamenting over the bad. We spend time longing for things to be easy when they are hard, and yet we waste even more time fearing the hard when things are easy.
Action – Balance in life comes from accepting and learning from all that it offers.
Let the education begin!
