Time is way too precious a commodity to waste it away on useless behaviors, don’t you think?

So, let me ask you this … How much time do you think you spend each day complaining about your problems and obstacles?

Now, let me ask you this … What do you think would happen if you spent that time counting your blessings instead?

Some might say they don’t have enough blessings to fill the same amount of time as their problems. Well, I guarantee they do!

You see, this morning I woke up with a headache, the car wouldn’t start and the dishwasher was leaking.

But:

I’m alive, sun is streaming through the window, and making dinner tonight will be easy because we’re having leftovers. I love my work and I live in a rich and abundant world.

Action – Every morning, consciously count your blessings until your heart feels light and a smile comes to your face.

Enjoy your world, and be grateful for it!

  1. Hi Nancy – another great post and I firmly believe that how we approach our day is the bedrock of how our day will turn out. I choose an afirmation card each morning as I drive to work. Today mine read ‘I live in an abundant universe’. Then I come to your page and hear the same message. Today I am grateful that you encouraged me to count my blessings and to practice gratitude. Life hasn’t been the same since and it has been 1000 times better. Thank you. Sharon

  2. Your affirmation card story is yet another example of “universal intelligence.” Clearly, it is a message you are meant to hear today and no doubt you will take that message to others too, in your words and deeds 🙂 Very cool 🙂

  3. Hi Nancy. This is the first time I replied you, despite I read your Simple Sound Solutions day after day. It is so valuable for me. And subject you refer today is one the most important thought in our lives.
    thank you !!!!!

  4. Every single day, I name at least 10 things I am grateful for. Every day. Usually I have to purposely stop myself because there is so much, and I need to get on with other things. It indeed makes your heart lighter and puts a smile on your face to do this. I hope everyone will heed this very wise advice. It’s one of those ‘feel good’ things that doesn’t cost a dime, but pays off big time!

  5. I lost my wife after a long battle with breast cancer. One of the ways I have been able to move forward is to put this into practice. The sun will and does rise every day, and each day brings new meaning. It is easy to dwell on “poor me” but it is more fun to count my blessings, for even though they are hard to find. They always bring a smile.
Keep up the good work Nancy.
    Mike

    1. Hi Mike,

I am so sorry to read about your wife. I commend you for standing in light of an extremely difficult time. Take good care.

  6. I read these post everyday and I try to put into practice the wise suggestions found in them, this one is especially dear when you look at the recent floods in Texas. The people of Texas have many years of recovery ahead of them but I saw so many of them counting the blessings more than the destruction. Counting my blessings is easy, they surround me always, but to help make this easier I have started to limited my time in front of the TV where ratings appear to be based on how negative life is vs how great life is. We do not know what our futures hold but our today can be positive if we want it to be.

  7. This is something I have learned from you Nancy, when in 2004 you were coaching me and asked me to send you every evening five nice things that happened to me on the day. I remember how much I was struggling to find one forget about five and you kept telling me to start with little things, like having a coffee with a friend or enjoying the sunshine. I kept doing that for years and it has turned my life around big time.
Today someone texted me this: Thank you Eleni, shame you are not nearer, your are always positive no matter what comes your way, love it, nothing can stop you girl x
Thank you for showing me the way 🙂
Lots of love from London UK

    1. You’re sharing your appreciation for life. Which is the biggest “thanks” you can share with me! I too love your energy and zest. You go girl !!!

  8. This is a very important part of my success. It is easy to focus on the negative, because it supports your lack of accomplishment. If you focus on the positive it gives you energy to remove obstacles and the negatives.
Nancy all of your techniques are amazing, and this one is close to the top for me.

    1. I’m glad to hear it Mike. And thanks, always, for your continued input and sharing of knowledge and experience. It is super valuable not only to me but to those who see your comments too!
