There is no doubt that life has it’s challenges. Sometimes it feels like an obstacle course, doesn’t it?
Now, I’m not talking about the facts of life, like death and taxes, which are just part and parcel of the whole thing.
I’m referring to the type of obstacles that we actually put in our own way.
We complain about having to do this or not having that. We say we don’t have a choice about the work we do or things around us.
We moan on about the state of the world or the fact that city hall is cutting it’s budget. We blame these things on making our lives tougher and stopping us from getting what we want.
The boss is a jerk, gas prices are too high and, oh my goodness, the state of the stock market means you can’t take a holiday this year.
You’ve gotta sing for the boss and dance for the spouse.
If it’s not one thing, it’s another, right?
Listen, the only hoops you must jump through my friend are your own.
All these other things are going to happen. It is you and your perception of these external events that is creating the hardship.
Are you tired of it yet?
Action – Today, catch yourself complaining about something. And then ask yourself this:
Will this matter to me in a year?
If the answer is no, stop complaining about it right now and move on to something more important. If the answer is yes, then it is actually a problem and you will need to create a plan to solve. Do that today.
Most of the obstacles in our life are of our own creation. Today, begin to create a clear, straight path for yourself.
