Today, I woke up with a raging headache.
And instantly, the action list looked 5 times longer!
It is the dilemma of many professionals every day. You feel less than stellar but know there are still a few things you can get done before retreating back to the pillow. You know before you start that today will be less than perfect.
For me, I challenge myself to always shoot for less than perfect.
Yes, that’s right – I purposefully and consciously avoid my underlying desire for perfection. I realize (particularly when my head is pounding) that the absolute best I can accomplish in any given task is “excellence”. Even when that “excellence” is only making 2 phone calls instead of 5, finishing 1 report instead of 3 and answering just 20% of my emails.
Today, given the circumstances and situation, what I have achieved is absolutely excellent, and I am damn proud of it!
Now, where is my pillow?
