Sometimes, I can take myself and everything around me a little too seriously! I know I’m getting too intense when even the smallest problem gets me mad.
Henry Ward Beecher, who lived way back in the 1800s, summed up the psychological force behind this when he said – a person without a sense of humor is like a wagon without springs – jolted by every pebble in the road.
What a fabulous analogy!
In life, you do get bounced around, and then you do get thrown out into the elements of how the world works. And yes, sometimes it does hurt.
But those moments are significantly worse if you cannot bring humor to them.
Action – If you find yourself particularly grumpy or moody, do something, anything, that makes you laugh again. And keep as light and happy a frame of mind as you can.
Think of it as Pebble Protection!
