As a philosopher once said – people are anxious to improve their circumstances but are unwilling to improve themselves.
External adjustments are only ever temporary. Until you come to terms with yourself, these things outside of you will continue to feel annoying.
Action – Therefore:
Do NOT identify something as wrong. It puts you in a negative, problem-focused state of mind.
Do NOT ask why something is as it is. Again, you’ll stay negative.
Instead, look for opportunities in everything that is happening. In every person you meet, in every condition you come across. Positives may not always be apparent, but they ARE there.
And consciously acknowledge 5 things you are grateful for at the end of each day. That exercise alone can dramatically change your outlook.
Lessons return until they are learned. In each complaint, a lesson is there.
Well said Nancy
Thanks Raj!
Thanks for the encouragement! Liza
You’re welcome, Liza!
Another one of my secrets revealed. I always look for the positives in everyone I meet. Some are more difficult than others, however I have learned that you can not judge a person until you have walked a mile in his shoes. It tends to make me more focused during sales calls.
And if those shoes are tight-fitting, they are likely to be cranky soles!! (sorry, couldn’t resist that one!)
