10% of the North American workforce has reported experiencing symptoms of depression within the last year.

Far from being alone in your feelings of sadness, lack of energy or poor sleep, it is likely that one of your colleagues knows exactly what you’re going through.

I often receive calls or emails from clients expressing concerns or challenges at work. Little do they know that I have probably just spoken to one of their colleagues who is experiencing a similar situation!

We often feel alone during times of distress. We imagine that others have it all figured out and make assumptions because we compare our internal state with their external state.

Action – I suspect that, with some courageous honesty and a little openness with your workmates, you will find people very near to you who can share both your good and not so good feelings.

We all go through it. Why go it alone?
