piggy-bankSo you’ve caught that nasty bug that’s been going around, you’ve had to stay home for days and you’re freaking out about all the deadlines you’re missing.

Even though this happens all the time in our lives, why do we get so stressed out about it?

Stress comes when perceived demands exceed perceived ability to cope.

The way to manage stress when the inevitable happens is to build reserves. A reserve is defined as having more of something than you need right now.

Having reserves of energy will mean you can respond to extra demands without feeling exhausted. A reserve of money will help you manage non-budgeted costs. Reserves of plans, known as Plan B and Plan C, will help you get through those crunches at work.

Action – Choose one area of your life that you know needs a reserve. Whether it’s time, money, energy or other resources, set a goal to build a reserve just in that area for now.

  1. What a practical, Simple, Sound, Solution. Basically says, stop worrying, rest, the more you worry the worst things get. Make a plan, have a back up…have a reserve for the important responsibilities in your life. Got it and thank you Nancy for reminding us not to take EVERYTHING with so much intensity!
