How you use your time reflects how you see yourself.
Repeating tasks, procrastinating, creating piles of stuff and generally running around is a clear sign that you do not value your time. If you did, you wouldn’t fritter it away through repetition or avoidance.
And when you don’t value your time, which is irreplaceable, you don’t value yourself, something also irreplaceable.
Many of us spend a lot of time looking for new tools to do things better, faster, cheaper. That is all well and good, but it’s not about techniques.
It is about you.
And none of those fancy ways or nifty gadgets will make one iota of impact until you value yourself.
Action – Across the top of a page, write out this phrase: I value myself by using my time to … and then fill up the sheet with things that you adore doing. The more difficult it is to fill the page, the further down the totem pole you may see yourself.
Whether you have filled the sheet with luscious things you are already doing or just want to do, set a goal to spend more time doing them.
And if you have trouble writing out ways you value yourself, its time to sit down with a trusted friend and talk this through.
The more you value yourself, the more time you will have to do what you love. It’s that simple.
