Feel like you’re spinning your wheels at work and not getting anything done? Well, I was recently reminded of a functional time management trick that helps you feel a sense of achievement

After a long bout of illness, I was anxious to get back into working out at the gym.  I love the feeling of satisfaction when a good workout is done. But I’m often an all-or-nothing kind of girl which means I can push too hard, not bother starting or feel like nothing’s been done unless I can do it at my usual level.

Clearly, that is no way to rebuild strength. Nor is it the way to build confidence.

So my doctor gave me a new plan. She said “decide what you’re going to do, then do half of that.”

And it’s worked! I am not so negative about my current performance. I make some progress in several different areas and celebrate what I get done.

Action
– Today, or whenever you’re feeling like nothing’s been happening, decide what you’re going to do, and do half of it.

Then, take a moment to acknowledge what you have done and reevaluate your next steps.

  1. I like this – sometimes planning to do only half doesn’t seem overwhelming…but once you get into it you quite often accomplish more….just take one step.
