Winston Churchill said “Continuous effort – not strength or intelligence – is the key to unlocking our potential.”
Persistent, consistent action over time is the only way to achieve lasting success.
As Mr Churchill said, it is not about strength. Being strong is not as significant as being boldly persistent, despite temptations to stop.
Intelligence is important but brains get you nowhere if you cannot consistently stay focused on the actions that will bring about your desired outcome.
And patience to stay the course over time – a characteristic Mr Churchill had in buckets.
Action – Not sure how to be persistent and consistent over time?
Here’s how.
Every day this week, do one thing – just one – that will make a particular goal more likely to happen. You don’t have to achieve the goal this week, but just take the action every single day. It could be reviewing your task list every morning or making 5 cold each day or putting $10 into a savings jar as soon as you get home.
Just commit to doing that one thing.
It can be that simple.

Hi Nancy,
Talk about perseverance! Today I decided to go back over some of your past postings and note how many responses you tend to get. I was struck by how many times there is “no comment”.
I love receiving your daily thoughts. I’m actually considering getting a binder and going back and printing many of them so that I can have them more permanentlyamong my resources. They often hit me right between the eyes. Please don’t stop. I will miss them if you do.
Congratulations on practicing what you preach. You show enormous persistence in keeping this up daily. I’m sure it’s not easy.
Thanks again,
Joyce Ozier
