A project can sometimes feel daunting because when we look at the entire picture, it appears so big that it’s overwhelming.

The beginning of any project is important as it sets the tone of confidence for the whole thing.

As a manager several years ago, I learned how to build up my team quickly by focusing on fast wins in the early stages of the project. We never set the bar too low, but gave all our energy and attention to hitting several small goals in the first few days.

As the early wins were celebrated, the team felt more ready, willing and able to tackle more complicated and time-consuming tasks.

Action – Build initial success and confidence for any project by setting five fast and purposeful goals that can be achieved over the next 24 hours. You’ll get quick results that you can build on and you’ll create momentum too.

(I’ve always loved this photo as a demonstration of (a) self-confidence – the cat and (b) damn good training – the dogs!!)
