I always giggle when I see those 300 page books on goal-setting. If you’re having trouble setting goals, when are you going to find the time to read a big book?

Goal-setting (or in my language “goal-getting”) doesn’t need to be explained in voluminous books.

Sure, there are many pieces to successful goal achievement, no doubt about it. But where people usually get themselves all confused and in a tussle is in planning the actions needed to achieve the goal.

That whole planning thing becomes a real nightmare.

To be helpful, we specialists often write page after page on how to do this and how to do that.

Well, I just do not agree with making things complicated

Action – So, I’m going to give you 3 very simple questions to ask yourself when planning your next goal. Write these down and keep them near … and trust me, you’ll be thanking me for these in the not-too-distant future!

Ready?

Number 1 – What 5 things do I need to STOP doing to achieve this goal?

Number 2 – What 5 things do I need to START doing to achieve this goal?

Number 3 – What 5 things do I need to DO MORE OF to achieve this goal?

To start your plan and get into action on your goal, identify each of those things that you need to stop, start and do more of. Once you’ve written out five for each question, start doing them! And you’ll be on your way.

You see? Simple.

PS – I have seen people make more money, change jobs, upgrade their relationships, downsize their commitments and even stop smoking using just these 3 questions to create their plan. It is just soooo simple! And it doesn’t take 300 pages to explain it either, thank goodness.

  1. Simple but not easy! The key is not writing the answers; the key is to START DOING THEM … and that’s not so simple. I often find a hundred and one reasons why to not start today!
