People often ask me why they procrastinate. For many, the answer is simple.

Doubt.

When we doubt our ability to do something or our capacity to handle the consequences, we will hit the brakes and go nowhere. Our doubts can turn a straightforward task into a complicated mess. We will waste time and avoid based on one tiny little thought…

Doubt.

A thought of doubt leads to a belief of inability. That belief turns into a fear which prevents any action from being taken. No action means no result, other than procrastination.

The philosopher Thomas Carlyle said “doubt, of whatever kind, can be ended by action alone.” You see, once actions are taken, the fears subside, ability is apparent and doubt diminishes.

Action – So, what is one action you will take today to stop procrastinating on just one matter?

Identify it and take it, without doubt.

  1. Fully agree with this one. As we say best way to Combat Fear is Courage, here the Fear is Doubt and Courage is Action i guess. And we always say When in doubt please ask – I guess thats the first knock for action. Cheers!!
