There is yet more research to confirm that a tidy office makes a huge difference in your attitudes.
Though I can often be skeptical of psychobabble experiments, one out of Yale University tick off all the boxes of a valid study.
Two psychologists wanted to know whether a clear open space affects our emotions differently than a cluttered, closed environment. And through several unique versions of the same experiment, they found that those exposed to a more expanded area were less likely to become embarrassed or frightened and more likely to be unattached to certain outcomes, situations and even people.
Once again, the bottom line seems to be this – if you work in an open, unconfused, and tidy work area, you will feel calmer, more secure and less anxious. And you will respond more positively to the events around you.
Action – Isn’t that worth spending just a few minutes a day tidying up?
