I’m often asked ‘why don’t people pursue their goals?’ The answer is both simple and complicated.
The simple reason a person doesn’t go after a goal is that the desire to achieve it is outweighed by fear.
And it is the fear part that is complicated.
We fear success, failure, loss of reputation, pain, getting too much admiration, loss of being liked, and so on. And sometimes many fears show up at the same time.
We would much rather give in to fear than get the pleasures of achieving our goals.
You already know this, and if you are still paralyzed by your fears, you have learned how to be helpless.
Action – What do you need to keep going? More accountability or lower risk? More support or less nagging? What would best suit you at this point?
Truly successful people are those who keep going despite their fears.
