Franchises like McDonald’s and Starbucks are so successful because they are fundamentally a business in a box.
Their structures are thought-out and itemized, yet they are dynamic and maneuverable in a changing marketplace. Time, energy and money have been spent on making them uniform and replicable.
A service-based business can be that structured too. Even a one-person entity.
My business is actually made up of several systems, such as:
- Leadership and management
- Lead generation and conversion strategies
- Client fulfillment options
- and more
This is what the author Michael Gerber refers to as a ‘franchise prototype’. It is essentially a set of documents to which someone else could add their own style and create a successful business.
Action – Whether franchising or not, the very exercise of making the master prototype creates a strong framework from which your business decisions, strategies and structures will ultimately grow.
I like this idea and look forward to building a file for my business.
Thanks for the idea.
