I’ll admit it – I occasionally bet a few dollars on the blackjack table!  I know the odds of winning are worse than slim but that’s not why I do it. Success in gambling for me is enjoying the game and the challenge.

Success at anything is a combination of 2 things.

First, you must define what success looks like for you. Most people think in dollars and cents, but I encourage you to link it to a feeling of important personal value.

And second, once defined, success comes with persistent consistent action over time. Do whatever is necessary to transcend inevitable obstacles.

Action – Look at one goal you are working toward right now. Have you got the value-based definition AND long term commitment to make it happen? If not, rework the goal until you have both. If you can’t reach both, drop the goal and choose another.

The odds are always with you if you put attitude and action into it.

  1. Very nice message. It makes us rethink many things in our life, both professional and personal.

  2. I look at owning a company as a real goal. In brokerage I can obtain a very large Commission in a short period of time it does not bring the feeling of satisfaction nearly as a project with a much smaller return that fulfills my desire to have my own company. Thanks, you gave me something to think about. Although working for a living brings the income we need to live, for me it does not fulfill the goal I have that which succuss looks like to me.
