Do you know how to immediately solve 50% of a problem?
The common-sense way to successfully set up a problem to be solved is to define that problem thoroughly.
Most people identify something they think is a problem when, in actual fact, it’s a superficial glitch. But when problems are truly defined, they are much easier and faster to resolve because we’re putting our time and resources on the things that matter.
So, to solve a problem, we have to use two questions to unearth the “real” issue, and we can use both of them at the same time.
They are “what does that really mean?” and “so what?”
Action – The next time you’re faced with a problem, ask those 2 questions. Keep digging until you can’t find another answer to either one. And that will be the real problem.
And you’ll already be halfway there to solving it.
So useful Nancy. Thanks.
I am very happy I signed up for these tips, I especially love “So What”….this would eliminate so much stress in my life by just asking this question before my emotions take off on me.
