Feeling a little rough ‘round the edges today? Maybe a bit tired and unenthused?
Let me ask you something – how much longer are you going to hang on to that?
I’m not talking about feeling bad because of an actual physical ailment. That’s legit.
I’m referring to the feeling you get when you repeatedly tell yourself negative things.
You know what I’m talking about – that voice that keeps saying “not good enough” or “too much of this” or “too little of that”.
Everyone has that voice. Yup, you’re not alone. It’s called various things – gremlin, taskmaster, busy bee, judge and jury, monkey mind.
Action – If you’ve been feeling bad and your gremlin has had some extra airtime lately, here is a way to shush it a bit.
When you hear that voice in your head being negative, ask yourself:
- Is that true?
- Is it in my best interest?
- Is that voice moving me toward my goal or away from it?
From now on, instead of just listening to that negativity, challenge it. Take control and create success.
(My gremlin’s name is Charlie. Over the years of getting to know him, he has calmed down an awful lot, and only shows up now when I really need to pay attention to what is going on. What is your gremlin’s name? Leave your reply in the comments box.)
My gremlin is called work and I am trying to get rid of it. 🙂
