Would you like to know when someone is lying to you?
Despite popular belief, we can only guesstimate a lie 50% of the time. However, new research using functional MRI’s is getting closer to finding a recognizable, fundamental brainwave pattern that appears when anyone lies.
The most interesting part of the research seems to confirm what psychologists have thought for a long time – the brain’s natural state is truth.
The MRI’s are showing that, when we lie, various brain areas controlling memory, sensory and motor functions light up with activity, presumably because we become concerned that we’ll get caught or forget our own lies. When we speak the truth though, these areas do not light up.
Action – As I have said before, truth is a fundamental part of your integrity. In life and business, the simplest and easiest way to create success is to make maintaining your integrity your 100% top priority.
my father always says ” if you tell the truth, you never have to remember what you said”
Steve, you have a wise father. My father use to say the only thing you have in this world is you name and if lie, steel or cheat then you gain nothing but lose the honor of your name.
I know for a fact that I could be been much more successful if I had only told customers a few lies during sales calls, however I know that I would not have been able to enjoy my reflection in the mirror as much as I do. I prefer to be honest, and I know my customers appreciate it.
Thanks Nancy
