Perception is NOT reality. But perception is ALWAYS real to the perceiver.
Understanding this distinction will stop you from ever saying again “why don’t they see things my way.”
The fact of the matter is this – no one will EVER see things your way. Yes, they could be very empathetic or intuitive but even your identical twin lives a different life than you.
Your world is just that – yours. Bob’s is Bob’s. Jane’s is Jane’s.
So when someone says “I think this” or “I feel that” you cannot make them wrong. That is their perception of a situation and very real to them.
You may be able to help them perceive things differently, but you cannot make someone wrong!
Action – Let go of correcting someone else’s perceptions and simply focus on understanding your own.
The more you learn about your own perceptions, the better you can help yourself and others.
