Actress Katharine Hepburn said ‘Trying to be fascinating is an asinine position to be in’.
How many asinine people do YOU know?
Bob feels the need to constantly baffle others with his experiences. He may spend much of his day deciding how best to show others how much he knows. And yet Bob will STILL complain about not having enough time to get anything done!
Why do people like Bob do this type of chest-beating? Well, it’s not because they’re asinine. It’s because their self-image is often so low, they’re seeking an ego-boost. It helps them to feel wanted or important.
Action – Next time you find yourself wanting to regale someone with your stories of achievement or interesting experiences, STOP!
If you find yourself really uncomfortable with saying nothing, it may be time to check your OWN self-esteem needs.
Be fascinating, sure, but don’t NEED to be fascinating!
